Moving house is very stressful
Moving houses is a very scary time, so it’s always best to be prepared well in advance. When I was in the process of buying a house I made it easy for me by dividing the whole moving houses into sections. I first planned what I will need to do after my offer for the new house was accepted, which was:
• Get a solicitor to sort the paperwork out
• Make an appointment with the estate agent responsible for the property to have another view of the house
Once the ball was rolling for the house to be mine, I started planning what I will need to do three weeks before the move, which included:
• Start looking for removal companies and get removals quotes
• Inform gas, electricity, water and telephone company about my move
• Look for school around the new house and inform the current school
• Start packing things I won’t need
The next part of my planning was what to do after I had received the keys to the new house, and that included:
• Arrange mail re-direction, so the post will arrive at my new home
• Contact the council and tell them my moving date
• Tell the removal company when the moving date is
• Defrost the fridge night before so I can take it
• Make sure I check everything on the day we leave
Having planned every step of moving house made it very easy and stress free, the leaving day went very smoothly without any problems.
